Chin Osteotomy

A chin osteotomy (Genioplasty) is a surgical procedure that involves cutting the bone to shorten, lengthen or change the position and alignment of the chin. Chin osteotomy results in more pleasing facial profile and aesthetically looking chin.

During the procedure an incision is made through your mouth, chin bone is surgically moved and set with small plates and screws. Chin osteotomy is a more complicated procedure than a chin implant and requires more healing time, but it offers long term benefits and is an excellent choice for certain individuals. As compare to a chin implant, chin osteotomy is a more permanent solution with less risk for infection, loss of augmentation or risk of migration which can occur after chin implant surgery.
