Meet Dr. McCoy

Dr. Ryan McCoy is a registered specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practicing in Edmonton, Alberta. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC).

A born and raised Edmontonian, Dr. McCoy completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degrees at the University of Alberta. He graduated at the top of his class and was awarded the Alberta Premier’s Silver Medal and the Alberta Dental Association and College Gold Medal for academic excellence. Dr. McCoy went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency at the University of Alberta Hospital. Following his hospital internship, Dr. McCoy completed residency training and a master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Manitoba. Upon graduation as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. McCoy went on to complete an accredited fellowship in Orthognathic and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto.

Dr. McCoy practices full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with a clinical focus on orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery, dental implant surgery, and TMJ disorder management and reconstruction. He values a compassionate, patient-centered approach and strives to make all his patients feel at ease. Dr. McCoy maintains hospital privileges at the University of Alberta Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, and Grey Nuns Hospital.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McCoy is also a clinical lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He has published research in various peer-reviewed journals and textbooks as well as presented at national and international conferences.

Dr. McCoy is a member of multiple professional organizations including the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CAOMS), American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons (AACMFS), and American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS).

Outside of the office and hospital, Dr. McCoy enjoys travelling, hockey, and spending time with his wife and family. He is proud to be part of the outstanding team at Renew Oral and Facial Surgical Centre.
