smiling woman at dental officeOral & maxillofacial surgery is a recognized specialty that encompasses the surgical management of diseases, injuries, and deformities involving both the structural, functional and aesthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaws and the face.

Their surgical expertise ranges from dentoalveolar surgery, extraction of wisdom teeth, dental implants, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, facial trauma & reconstructive surgery, oral & facial pathology, cleft lip and palate, temporomandibular joint surgery, and face aesthetic surgery.

A contemporary modern Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon is a graduate of both dental and medical school, and has completed an accredited hospital based six year surgical residency program. Prior to commencement of clinical practice, they must pass a National Board exam by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. With this, they are then licensed as recognized certified specialists.

Surgical Staff

Dr. Lalh and Dr. Young along with the surgical staff at Renew Oral & Facial Surgical Center are experienced and certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

  1. Trained dental surgical assistants who maintain a high level of excellence and surgical care
  2. Registered nurses (RN) to assist in surgery and recovery of patients after surgery
  3. All anesthesiologists are certified medical anesthesiologists who practice at the University of Alberta Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital

All staff are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified. All surgical staff are CPR/ACLS/PALS certified.
